In the Dordogne department, the Périgord Noir is the black pearl. The region is among the most attractive and touristic areas of France. The truffles, nuts, foie gras and the many medieval cultural treasures, offer visitors in addition to culture all the burgundian pleasures of the French countryside. The region is particularly suitable for families with children.
Some examples of the many activities and attractions:
- Castels
The chateaux of Castelnaud, Beynac, Milandes (Josephine Baker) and Marqueyssac (with beautiful gardens). For children the castle of Castelnaud is a real experience, knights come to life there. - Canoeing on the Dordogne River, biking, hiking, golfing, climbing at a climbing park there is always something sporty and fun to do.
- Daily markets and flea markets
In season there are almost daily markets or “vide greniers” (flea markets) to visit. Enjoy the friendly atmosphere, the French culture and the ‘couleur locale’. - Sarlat-la-Canéda
France’s most visited medieval town. With a large weekly market on Saturdays and an antique market on Sundays. Sarlat must be visited! - Other beautiful villages
Domme – a charming village with spectacular views of the Dordogne River and surrounding countryside.
La Roque Gageac – a beautiful village on the banks of the Dordogne River. Ideal for taking a boat trip or renting a canoe.
